The Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) at CSUF was founded in 1984 and it has been growing ever since. CSUF has the greatest population of Vietnamese students in the country with over 3,000 Vietnamese people on campus. A few years back, Phu Nguyen was president of CSUF’s VSA for two years and now he is a candidate for California State Assembly. VSA at CSUF also works with a lot of philanthropy and community service events in the Vietnamese community, and partners with many on-campus organizations and VSAs from other universities.
Brief History:
–2011 promoted first ever on-campus joint culture club Lunar New Year Festival
–2010 Phu Nguyen (president of CSUF’s VSA 2007) became candidate for California State Assembly
–2008 showcased first Vietnamese Graduation Ceremony
–1993-1995 Daren Nguyen founded Vietnamese Business Student Association (VBSA). Lasted 2 years.
–1988 showcased first Vietnamese Culture Night
–1984 CSUF VSA was created and showcased first Vietnamese Banquet
